Our Quality Assurance (QA) staff ensures safety of food handling including sanitation procedures, product performance and plant cleanliness. We take pride in all of our facilities and keep them clean and safe, providing excellent product quality and a safe work environment for our associates. The Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system is used at every level of operation to analyze our production systems for food safety issues. If there is a potential problem area, it can be identified early and corrected.
Our QA laboratory at the Cordova facility conducts chemical and microbiological tests for our operations. The staff tests feed, live birds and chicken products from each of the two processing plants to determine nutritional content, 'shelf life', and color to meet consumer preferences, as well as to maintain our own premium standards. Our hatchery and feed operations management monitors quality and assure our standards are met.
In addition to in-house testing, we contribute to industry-wide efforts, such as studying methods to further improve the health and well-being of live birds. We are active members of the National Chicken Council (NCC), which supports industry issues and initiatives, and the Delmarva Poultry Industry (DPI), a regional organization working for the continued progress of the poultry industry on the Delmarva Peninsula. We also support the scientific and testing projects that are initiated by U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, NCC and DPI.
