HARBESON, Del. – January 29, 2018 – Allen Harim, a leader producer and processor of No Antibiotic Ever Chicken on Delmarva, is offering to financially help the caretakers of the Harbeson Cemetery with a reward fund to help locate the driver that ran into the cemetery wall in December.
The cemetery, located at the corner of Route 9 and Route 5, has a brick retaining wall just inches from the roadway that has suffered damage through the years as a result of vehicle accidents at the intersection.
“It is disheartening to learn that drivers don’t take responsibility for their actions,” said Joe Moran, President and CEO of Allen Harim. “We are just as anxious to learn who is responsible as anyone else and want them to be held accountable. It’s not always trucks traveling to and from our poultry processing plant, but when it is, we take full responsibility.”
The Harbeson Cemetery offered a $200 reward recently for information leading to an arrest, and Allen Harim is offering to increase the reward to $1,000. The damage occurred on the evening of December 6th, and anyone with information on the accident should call Ed Kopple at (302) 542-0275.
The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is planning to make substantial improvements to the intersection, and that work should begin in about three to four months, officials said.
